WHY STUDENT FAIL ICT
ICT is an abbreviation of Information Technology. It is the use of computer and others work of technology to aids an effective communication. ICT could be said to be a covering term that holds together, all sorts of communication devices and applications. Her wevtend to look at television, radio, phones, computer system as well network hardware andsoftware. However it does not excluding satellite system etc. In brief ICT can be seen as an extension term for Information Technology (IT) that seek to stresses the role of unified communication and intergration of telecommunications for reasonable purposes.
While ICT ought to be a concept that will should aĺl try to embrace, it atill beat imagination that many student fail it in an examination. The question now remain why does large percent of student keeps failing ICT all around the globe, specifically here in Nigeria?
Deduce from study, student is been notice with the attitude of using internet in catching fun rather than surfing it to acquire knowledge in they field of study. According to a Professor ofvMathematics at Tia Solarin University of Education, Abayomi Arigbabu posit ICT not to be the issue but the wrong application on the students' part. This simply means that the use to which student put ICT add little or no effectvon on their knowledge of the concept.
The impact of teacher in this regard cannot be overlook. If student tend to be failing ICT oftenly, then there is no course for the teacher not been put to cheek. This imply that if teacher had being playing its civic role in bringing the student acquainted with the necessity of ICT usefulness, perhaps there shouldn't have been course for mass failure of ICT.
Another point why student often fail ICT is that schools are not well equipped to deal with issues related to digital literacy in its curriculum. However power is another challenge in a country like Nigeria. Laspotech could be cited in an unfortunate situation like this. Sometime the Laspotians went to the ICT centre for lecture all to found it lock, and if not lock there could be power failure. Student is been tought little before exam is been conducted.
